Answer: Actually, yes, there is.

The Star Wars Collectible Miniatures game is currently produced by WizKids for Hasbro. The miniatures are pre-painted and cast in soft plastic, making them a bit of a turn-off for serious hobbyists. Moreover, the miniatures are mostly sold in "blind" packs - that is, you know the theme of the pack, but not its exact contents (hence why it is call a collectible miniatures game - it works on the same sales principles as a collectible card game like Magic the Gathering or Pokemon).

Having said all that, I've played the game with the basic Clone Wars starter boxed set (which isn't a blind box and which comes with Obi-Wan, Count Dooku, plus a couple of Clone Troopers and a pair of Droids as well as a battlemat and all the rules.

Overlooking the horrible minis and blind nature of collecting the game, it is a clever, involving game designed to be played with just a small number of minis on each side on a pre-printed battlemat (divided into 1" squares), so having a game is easy and convenient and you can just toss the minis into a box or your pocket when you're done. Each mini has its own stat card, which you'll need to refer to throughout the game, and you also need damage and Force counters, which come in the start box (although they'd be easy enough to make out of beads or just cardboard).

The bad news, though, is that Hasbro - which holds the merchandising licence from LucasArts - has decided to withdraw the licence from WizKids. With effect from today, 1 April 2010, they will no longer make the game (and no, this isn't an April Fool), so your timing stinks.

That said, a game is a game is a game. Loads of gaming stores will be flogging off their Star Wars CMG stuff for a discount now that it's not supported any more, so you may have a chance to buy up a load of stuff there. No doubt eBay will also see a surge of discounted SW minis.
